dirt

A bath tube, a body, and an urge to wash off the dirt. A symbolic series that explores the need to strip off our inner darkness. This series, split into different acts and following the structure of classic theater, uses the narrative to make us dip into a metaphor and confront ourselves.

A bathtub in a remote place, waiting for something to happen, for the arrival of someone who will make her useful, so turbid and sterile. Long she waits for that “someone” to embrace her.

1st act “The bathtub”

2nd act “The body”

A body, disarmed, so ephemeral, so fragile, so dirty. Contaminated. Lost and disenchanted. A nakedness marked by every stitch and every scar. Chiseled by wounds that fester and rot.

she waits for that “someone” to embrace her.

3rd act “The meeting”

A scream coming from a corner, a call for her, it does not silence but overwhelms, suffocates, invades her. She awakens absent and devoid. And there she is, eager for a reunion in the epicenter’s off-center.

B-What are you doing here? How did you get here?

P-Who are you? I don't recognize you…

B-Why are you so neglected, so shattered?

P-Who are you?

B-I was waiting for you…

¿Cómo has llegado?

  P-¿Quién eres? No te reconozco…

B-¿Por qué estás tan descuidada, tan rota?

  P-¿Quién eres?

  B-Te estaba esperando…

4th  act “The confrontation”

It invades her, it swallows her. And she, so naive, so delusional, swoops in, pushes into, enters, dives and lets herself go, allowing her murky waters to soak her, to suffocate her.

Every pore of her body burns, sobs; muffled moans that writhe and drown in the mud.

She feels the coldness while being imprisoned by her white shallow body. Her incendiary bowels burn and the metal, like the bull of Phalaris, squeaks.

5th  act “The acceptance”

She stands upright, still. Unable to oppose, she lets the dispute subside.

Drops of dirty water slide, touching her without malice. Now, she accepts it without rebellion, without  fighting. The screams are silenced. The hostile becomes docile.

Queda erguida, pausada.

 6th act “the  end”

She no longer envelops her, they are not two entities, they merge while possessing each other.

In that moment, they no longer suffer ,they slip into the earth’s bowels, transforming themselves into something more than metal. Something else. Something new.

They are me, and I am them

they are me , and I am them
